Can you give me a background on your band? How was your band formed? How did you come up with the name Alone in the Morgue?
--------------------------
Well we started playing music together in 08-09 originally. We were all just mutual friends who wanted to play heavy music we all came from different bands different genres and came together to start something new. Yes, the name is derived from the Whitechapel song but our intent was just to be an online project never expected to get as well known as we have become. We just wanted to right heavy technical music with gorey and medically accurate imagery.
Were there any bands that influenced your sound or lyrics?
--------------------------
Most will say whitechapel is our influence but we honestly are influenced by many different bands from suffocation to behemoth to carnifex.
What kind of lyrics do your song revolve around? Is there any specific message you want to send?
--------------------------
Our new songs all revolve around the end of the world. Some are even our renditions of bible scriptures just reimagined.
We don't convey a particular message each song is a different story. We just choose to use hatred for humanity and violent scenarios to express since its easiest for people to get into.We are all calm mild mannered guys but we definitely bring the hatred at shows.
Have you guys been enjoying the gigs you've been doing?
--------------------------
We played our first two shows recently. First shows we have done in over a year and its been great so far. The crowds have been real responsive to our new sound.
What songs do you guys enjoy playing the most?
--------------------------
As a band We enjoy playing "Oblivion" the most. Its the title track from the upcoming record and definitely its the most diverse and heavy song we have.
Do you remember your first gig? What was it like?
--------------------------
Our first gig was in Laffayette,LA. It was a fun show mostly a christian crowd and we were overkill for the venue which was in a big storage buildings. We had 3 guitarists a bassist drummer and vocalist. We eventually alerted the cops and they came and shut down the show after we finished playing ha good times indeed.
What equipment do you guys use?
--------------------------
Currently we use Ibanez guitars and basses. Vader Cabinets and Peavey Heads.
What do you guys think about sites that post music and download links for full albums? Do you believe they're there to ruin sales, or do you feel they're just trying to help bands get noticed?
--------------------------
It kinda sucks about music getting posted so quickly cause you lose sales on your hard work but on the upside you do get exposure very quickly. We support all the sites that post music cause they helped us get out there really quick and we appreciate that alot.
You guys are listed as Deathcore, how do you feel about the complexity of genres today? (Death/Tech Death/Brutal Death/Deathgrind/Grindcore, etc etc) Do you feel that sometimes it gets out of hand?
--------------------------
We are listed as deathcore but really we are just metal I mean we feel we are just death metal with breakdowns but to others thats what deathcore is. Its kinda crazy we are considered deathcore, death metal, brutal death metal and brutal deathcore. Thats way too many sub genres for one band especially since we are just like we're just metal no need for multiple genres. We are just glad to have people who really enjoy our music that much.
Metal has definitely become over run with scene metal bands who kinda give metal a bad image and name. These generic bands make other bands within metal seem obsolete. To people unfamiliar to the genre and using these bands as a guide to what metal is it makes it harder on other bands to acquire fans or even to receive the listens on facebook or youtube. People are like if all bands sound like that then im sure this band and that band sound just like them so since I don't like them I'm sure I won't like these other bands.
Are you guys excited for the day you break into popularity or get the chance to play in major concerts like Warped or Summer Slaughter over in the U.S.?
--------------------------
We are currently ready to release our new full length "Oblivion" and ready to shoot our music video. We are hoping to break out into the open and play bigger shows. We would be so honored to play shows like Warped or Summer Slaughter. We feel our music is strong enough now to get us out there and attract new fans. We are ready for the new album release and to see how everyone enjoys it. "Oblivion" comes out August 2012!!!!!
