Interview With "Thirteen Bled Promises"

Can you give me a background on your band? How was your band formed? How did you come up with the name Thirteen Bled Promises?
--------------------------
Darío, Johny and Turri were the only ones left from the original TBP project. Dario was the bassist originally, but we had a show with Postmortem Promises and The Argent Dawn in Madrid already booked, and we were still incomplete. We found Nacho, who played bass, so Darío took the guitar for this show and kept it forever haha. The show never happened, but the band was born! Later we found Fran, and he joined the band. There was zero interest in deathcore in Spain back then, so it was really easy to find eachother.

About the band name, 3 of us entered this band when it was already formed. The name was Thirteen Bleed Promises, wich is wrong, but the guys who tought about it dind´nt give a fuck haha We wanted a name change but had felt in love with this one, so we changed it to Bled like 4 years ago, to make it right english and so we could keep going. People still uses the fucking "Bleed" anyway. Why? Stop using it, can´t you see it's wrong?!

Were there any bands that influenced your sound or lyrics?
--------------------------
Oceano, Despised Icon, Hypocrisy, Thy Art is Murder, Burning The Masses, The Black Dahlia Murder, Six Feet Under...

What kind of lyrics do your song revolve around? Is there any specific message you want to send?
--------------------------
All our songs have somo sort of sci-fi and horror in them. They all take place in unknown places like the underground depths and the outer space. We pretend to confront the vileness in this world with the power of dark imagination. As the songs can be therapeutic for us, we believe they can be therapuetic for others as well, I mean, this is the kind of band you want to listen when you just want to erradicate humanity off this planet. Also, Turri includes a lot of refrences to films, books, comics and even other lyrics. If you look deeply, you'll find loads of mental shit and freaky mixes.

Be yourself have fun and people can suck a gorilla cock, that's the bottom line in all of our songs.

Have you guys been enjoying the gigs you've been doing?
--------------------------
Theres not too much people into xtreeme music around. People only goes to shows when there's big bands from overseas and if there's no football on TV, and that's the fucking truth. Local shows are still risky financially, and that's a damn shame.- BUT, the people that does attend to shows are fucking mental, and we all know each other, it feels like a family! and that's all you need, at least your people going nuts!

What songs do you guys enjoy playing the most?
--------------------------
ALL OF THEM!

Do you remember your first gig? What was it like?
--------------------------
It was shit, the band had like 2 weeks of life, so we made up the whole thing. We only had like half song writen, but no one noticed haha. We played with The Black Dahlia Murder and Inbred in that very spot 5 years later, but by that time we had actual songs.

What equipment do you guys use?
--------------------------
Peavey, VHL, Pearl and Shure.

What do you guys think about sites that post music and download links for full albums? Do you believe they're there to ruin sales, or do you feel they're just trying to help bands get noticed?
--------------------------
We fucking love it. It is helping us a lot. We can't be thankfull enoguht to all the people thats posting our stuff worldwide asking for nothing in exchange.

You guys are listed as Deathcore, how do you feel about the complexity of genres today? (Death/Tech Death/Brutal Death/Deathgrind/Grindcore, etc etc) Do you feel that sometimes it gets out of hand?
--------------------------
Well, we need those to talk about music, we give stuff names. That's how humanity goes haha. And the media loves messing around with this confrontations between genres. It is really closed minded to dislike bands before you ever heard them. A lot of people says to us - I dont like deathcore, but you guys are awesome- That only proves they do like deathcore, cause we do fit in the deathcore definition, but that's not the point. The point is you should be openminded to music and all genres, you may miss somehting really good for minding what people are gonna think about you.

How do you feel about the metal scene today? Do you feel there are a lot of sub-par bands ruining the rep of the smaller, talented guys? --------------------------
Fuck reputation. If a band sucks they are only giving bad reputation to themsleves. We shouldn't give a fuck about what non-metal people thinks about metal, cause they just don't get it. This is not a minstream culture. there's loaaads of metal fans around the world, but it is not a mainstream thing, and that's the better part. This goes from metal heads to metal heads, not from pimps and hoes to zombie citizens

Are you guys excited for the day you break into popularity or get the chance to play in major concerts like Warped or Summer Slaughter over in the U.S.?
--------------------------
It would be silly to say no, those are huges festivals. So if we ever get that kind of recognition for our work that would be fucking great!!
